Time for drawings on this build!! Tomicks cut out 16 gun ports on the lower deck but as far as I am aware the front one in the bow is closed, if this is the case it would be easier just to score round your gun port template to give the effect of a closed port. There is only 30 guns on the lower deck and its the front port that doesn't have a cannon, on the dvd it shows it closed, so drawings would be a great help. Obviously they cannot supply us with all the drawings of the build (the experienced amongst us would simply jump ship and scratch all the way home) but drawings of the stage where at would be helpful. On another point parts 32 on the stern, the concave shape on them seems far too shallow i.e. the rear gunports dont seem possible and without drawings showing that area I`m not happy fitting them, I`ve done a rough sketch of what I think is more acceptable but without drawings on that area it seems a bit tricky to convert,, I`m all for scratching but scratching without drawings is inventing and thats pushing it a bit far willz attached the following image(s):

The gun ports are positioned parallel to the waterline, this means that those close to the bow and stern, where the planks slope upwards, will not be exactly square to the line of the planks, the port ahead of frame 12 should be positioned with its botom corner just touching the joint between the planks. The gun port closest to the stern comes midway between frames 29 and 30, make sure you keep its sides parallel to the frames. Just to clear up a point here tomick, the gun ports run parallel to the ships decks and not the waterline

My build follows that stated in the magazine, you'll find that the text of step 5 of issue 23 states 'parallel to the waterline'.

I think Willz means the 4 gunports on the stern, looking at his drawing. Dave H
