BigGrin Hi All

Things are slowing down a little now the planking has started but before I started with the first layer the Bow area had some inserts added just to give some extra support and help with the curve here. I used scrap ply from the kit for the insert so a fair bit of fettling was needed to get it to the right shape and its a trick of the light that make it look like theres a line on the one sideBlink LOL .

So I got 6 planks fitted either side in all but she's starting to look more ship like rather than bones. The build frame has also been made up ready to sit the hull in once the planking is completed. More soon.

Regards

You've certainly made some progress on this since I been away, she is really starting to take shape. Awesome work, I love the decking and the effect the wash has given it ThumpUp

BigGrin Hi Ian

Thanks for looking in and your comments, there were 7 ships built to this design by the naval architect Sir Thomas Slade of Victory fame. The ships in build order were Ardent, Raisonnable, Agamemnon, Belliqueux, Stately, Indefatidable and Nassau.

Wouldn't it be something to have them all at the same scale in your collection, what a display that would make..... Drool Drool .. Need a dedicated display room though no doubt....BigGrin BigGrin

BigGrin Hi Alan

I agree it would make a great display but thinking of the cost of the extension needed is scary. Personally for me, seeing all seven ships sailing together in real life would have been a sight to remember.Cool

Meanwhile planking continues, now starting to taper the planks at each end. More soon.

BigGrin Hi Chris

Funilly enough I quite enjoy planking I thinks its because you see a result as you go along and as you watch the gaps to be filled get smaller. Im trying out the recomended way in the instruction for the first time and should only need some stealers at the stern. Its the 1st layer so it get,s covered if I make a hash of itCrying Blink LOL Laugh .Thanks for looking in and your comments.

BigGrin Hi All

The first planking is how finished, the hull shape aided the planking only two stealers at the bow per side and around four/five each side at the stern. Next is lots of sanding then the cutting out of the gun port's using the template provided in the plans. More soon.

Andy

That must have been some very long days to finish that so quickly.

Good luck with the sanding part of the build. Spent some of the weekend sanding down my Revenge and its amazing just how much sawdust it creates.

Look forward to your next update BigGrin
