Looking good so far Benny, and I agree with you about hiding any mistakes with the secondary planking, I had to totally rebuild the stern of the Cutty Sark, the secondary planking hid the changes perfectly. Good luck on your build and keep us posted...

now the first planking..this is a mamoli build and i am pleased to say.thank god its double planked, what a nightmare.. as you can see i added darker planks and also extra planks from my other builds leftovers, the planks supplied did about 2 thirds and i used every piece apart from a few inch long off cuts..not good, anyway in the end all i was interested in was getting it planked, not pretty but its even both sides..i have covered it in 2 part filler and sanded it down and i now have a very good base for final planking totally even and sound ,this wont be painted or stained just oiled
cheers benny

i have now second planked the hull and as i am now painting i have filled with 2 part filler and given it a good sand down and filled again with fine filler, with that sanded i have given it a coat of white paint to show up any imperfections that need sorting
cheers benny

Looking good mate, if the hull planking on my mamoli victory turns out even half as good as this I will be very happy.

I know what you mean with regards to the shortage of wood, looks like I'm in the same boat!!
