Hello from Houston, TX. I'm Todd and am planning on ordering my Millennium Falcon subscription tomorrow. I saw the advertisement on facebook the other day and told my wife I had to have it! When I realized it was a subscription based model, I was a little confused...two years is a long time! My wife finally told me to stop talking about it and just order it!
My brother and I built countless military plane models when we were younger and they were never this involved. The last plastic model I built was a P-61 that I did some weathering and battle damage (bullet holes, scorch marks, bent props, etc). That was probably 15 years ago. I tried my hand at HO scale trains and did some washes and weathering on buildings and landscapes, but that was before we moved to Houston (about five years ago).
Needless to say, I've been digesting everything I can about this build and haven't decided how far I want to take it. I think that is where the genius of the subscription based model lies. I have a feeling I'll want to add more detail to the build since I'll have to have something to occupy the time while I wait for additional issues to arrive.
I might look into grabbing the Wal-Mart Falcon to practice my weathering techniques before I let loose on the real deal.
One question: When did this model get released in the US? How far behind will I be from those who started when it was first released? Can I buy the back issues all at once and get "caught up"?

Hi Sphinxman, welcome to the forum.I am forum support for USA to let me know if I can help in any way.
The falcon was released a couple of months ago in USA so you will not be far behind.Back issues are not available at the moment.THe UK is a little ahead of USa so you can see Falcons in various stages on the forum. Please consider starting a build diary once you get your parts.
There are quite a few US and Canadian Falcon builders and some are building with no detail and some are adding detail so I am sure you will find lots of help and advice.
