Hello,

I'm brand new to the community here and to DeAgostini.

I'm also pretty new when it comes to models, I primarily collect 1/6 figures and vintage toys. And when it comes to customizing I do a lot of repaints of 1/6 heads and accessories:

So while I have some experience in painting, this will be a different project all together.

The Plan:
My initial plan is to build with the stock kit, but add paint work as I go. I'm not opposed to 3rd party additions, but I only want to do that if it's completely necessary and at the very least I'll try to do it myself first I'm still on the fence on whether or not I'll completely repaint the hull or just try to add weathering to what is already there... but my guess is I will eventually just repaint the whole thing.

Anyway... onto the diary.

So far I've received the first and second month of the subscription.

I've got the interior of the cockpit mostly done and did some additional work to the hold.

1st Month
Cockpit:

Nothing to shocking here... just primed everything and then painted the base, console, chairs and panels:


After the first day or so I realized I forgot to paint the door frame... so I went back and did that.



Turret:
I don't have pictures of it, but I did reorient the turret window and have sanded and primed the guns.

2nd Month
The Hold:
Initially I filled in the seam on the bunk and modified the couch. I did not add the final cushions and I took one of the smaller segments and sanded it down until it sat flush with the edge of the wall. Then filled in the holes left by the missing cushions.



After that I painted everything a dark grey, added some weathering (using a Tamiya weathering kit) and small paint details. I also repainted the nav computer.



Cockpit:
Repainted the two new pieces of the cockpit and fit them in place with the rest of the cockpit assembly. I also added in the console do-hickeys and yokes. I then trimmed the console sticker a bit with an exacto knife and painted the edge of it so it'd better blend in with the rest of the console.





I think it will be at least a few weeks until I get the next set... so I can sit on this for now and think about other things I might want to do.

I'm seriously considering trying my hand at adding fiber optics to the cockpit, but I'm still gathering info on how best to do that with my limited experience and skill set

What Tamiya weathering kit did you use? I am just getting started and I haven't worked on models for 19 years...and I wasn't great at it then. Also not as much resources for learning then.

I basically have no supplies right now so I am starting to gather a list of what all I will need.
