First, new to the forum and looking forward to talking with everyone while I wait. The plan is to wait until I have all the parts in hand before beginning assembly (this is going to be the longest 25 months of my life). So I guess this gives me time to plan, talk and throw ideas around for some feedback. Considering the high final price for the kit, is it foolish of me to want to make my own YT-1300 instead of doing a Falcon replica? Now I am not talking major modifications ( YET, I have 25 months to sleep on the idea) or even major retooling, mostly detail work, custom paint job, maybe removing some of Han and Lando's years of hard work and modifications and throw some of my own on there, but leave the kit MOSTLY intact. I mean $1600 is a lot of money for a custom job, I am paying for a STUDIO FALCON REPLICA after all, but I don't know...I am so indecisive sometimes...

I say do with it as you will!!! I had thought about completely repainting with a Steampunk paint job, adding gears in the engine exhaust ports on top, stuff like that, but then I wussed out :) Current Build: Millennium FalconWish List: Lamborghini Countach LP 500S, Red Bull Racing RB7

I would say do what you want...it's your model. While it is an Empire model, I have been toying around with the idea of waiting the 25 months and then making it into as close as possible the Star Wars The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon. But hey it is 25 months and I may change my mind again as well.

Welcome Tommy I would say go for it and put your ideas in practice. Thats the beauty of modelling and its always fun to see what personal touches people add to their models. Of course if you change your mind you will still end up with a fantastic model at the end

Hi, I'm new here, too. I have kinda toyed with the idea of painting it to look like the Stellar Envoy. Supposedly that was the ship's ID when it was briefly seen in Revenge of the Sith. I don't know if I will, but I have the idea at least, and plenty of time to decide.

I was thinking about the Stellar Envoy paint job too. It's pretty nice. Though I have doubts that the Falcon actually had the paint job in her past. Wouldn't there be at least one plate with the blue still visible? I'd think all the wear and tear would show the colors of those days.
