Hi All! I attached some photos of my Akagi's building on last weekend. A sickbay, commander's rooms and a bathroom for seamen are built above the boilers. These structures are imaginal as the same as before. Seamen had to soak in the bath filled with sea water and only a bowl of fresh water was supplied at the finishing. Hi Davetwin and Alan! Thank you very much for your cheerful comments. Recently I sometimes wonder what I am building. I may possibly build a doll house, not a aircraft carrier. The ship was not only a work place, but also was a house for crews. Therefore I guess the cut model seems to be a doll house. I introduce one incredible episode. The technical adviser for the Akagi model of DeAGOSTINI Japan was a specialist of doll houses. I'll soon send next photos. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Davetwin! Thank you for sending a comment on my post. Since I need more material to build this model, I went to one place where I could gather material for this model. I'll send a post about it soon. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hasegawa Co. 1/350 Battle ship NGATO, 1/350 Aircraft carrier Akagi, Battle ship MIKASA. Hi All! I visited the MIKASA in Yokosuka city. The Mikasa is used as a museum there. I went there to gather materials for my Akagi model. Although almost IJN warship were lost, only the Mikasa remains at this time. I can see inside structures of IJN warship there and I will be able to refer to them. I happen to find the Victory in the museum. At this weekend, I enhanced bath tabs according to two advices from my friends. One advice is to paint the surface in clear blue and to make wavelets. Next advice is to add a steam heater in the bath tab. ( We, Japanese people like "bath" very much! ) I'm currently considering the measures for making a bizarre shaped funnel of the Akagi. I made a paper craft of the Akagi's funnel to consider it now. Photos of these building process were attached. Hi Andy! I'm sorry to reply to your message too late. I've researched the piping structures under the base of the funnel for several weeks. I'll send some photos of my next progress soon. Hi All! I attached some photos of my next building process. I did not know the piping structures under the funnel exactly. I have researched it with my friend for several weeks. The pipes from the boilers (red line) and outside (yellow) were gathered under the funnel as shown No.1. Pipes from the boilers connected to the funnel, but the pipes from the outside should be separated from the funnel. Since I do not have any materials of such piping structures, I have to imagine rational structures of it. I and my friend reached one result and I will build my Agagi following the result. At this week end, I have first made the funnel.(No.2-) Best Regards, Yutaro Yutaro HONMA attached the following image(s): DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi All! I attatched photos of my next progress. I finished making a part of the funnel of the Akagi. In the last photo, some pipes are connected to the funnel's base. Sea water was sent into the funnel through these pipes. The water made the smoke from the boilers be cool down. In some old pictures of the Akagi, the funnel seemed to be a fall. On the next step, I am going to build the central lift. Best Regards, Yutaro Yutaro HONMA attached the following image(s): DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI.
