Hi All The second layer of planking is now finished and sanded back. I have also added the lower main wale but followed Kieth Juliers recommendation of only using six planks instead of the seven recommended in the instructions, this is because the planks are of varying widths of around 3mm and six planks therefore give the correct size wale. Next its finishing off the gun port linings and adding the upper wale, More soon. Hi Alan and Garth Thanks both of you for your comments and looking in. Alan I would reccomend any Caldercraft kit as a must have for any ship builder there just great, I have yet to start adding the brass mouldings to the hull. The evergreen strip 0.5 x 1.0 mm arrived today so I now have enough to do the capping strip around the top of the copper tiles. more soon. Hi All Another addition to the Aggy. The ships wheels as provided are rather nice etch versions but to my eye a little 2D and not 3D as I wanted. They measure at aprox 26mm across and I initially wanted to replace them in wood but the sizes were either 20 mm or 30 mm so too big or too small but I then found some nice brass ones at 27 mm on CMB not perfect size wise but close enough I think. Hi All More progress, The upper wale has now been added and all the gun ports that need lining have been lined and painted Red Ochre although this leaves 8 ports on the upper rear deck without liners I plan to thicken the hull in this area anyway when the deck goes on. The quarter gallery's have been tidyed up with a little filler. The start of the copper tiling now begins and a few have been added 1225 per side . More soon. This is beautiful work, Andy. You are tempting me to think about getting some Caldercraft kit later this year, probably when I finish planking my SOTS. Any chance to see a photo with some of the copper tiles in place? EDIT: now I see it :-) Cheers, Michu Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.
Happy building :-) http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Wonderful Andy, not sure I relish your task of copper tiling. Think I would be tempted to tackle it in stages. One day I'll have a go but thankfully that is sometime in the future... .. Is it your intention to let them age naturally over time or will you be protecting the shine on them.... .. Look forward to your next update... Regards Alan
