Planking update, the first one. I've never done this before, and I feel a lot of potential in me for messing this part of the build up, so please, please, if you see that I'm doing something wrong, let me know in no uncertain words - there is still time to save this build! I will appreciate any such warnings or other advice greatly. Hull fairing is, I think, more or less OK, if ugly... But I'm pretty sure I can be totally wrong about this and possibly it's ugly and badly done. Anyway... The first mess-up I discovered myself. The stern planking was supposed to continue left and right beyond the frames so that it could be later shaped to follow the shape of the neighbouring frame. And they did, but not because I can read a manual, but because I was sloppy with cutting and I made them longer than I thought necessary. Just not all of them - as I said, I was just sloppy, not smart. So I can only thank my dumb luck that only four of the planks had to be extended after gluing in. Below you can see my handywork in all its glory: After trimming: With first row of planks installed - you can also see the ship modeller's slipway in action as it holds my ship at an angle, to aid with planking: So, after installing the first row of planks I thought to myself... Wait, wasn't I supposed to paint this thing first? Fortunately that thought occurred to me now, not after fifth row of planking. Not that I have five rows done... But I'm rambling now, don't I? So, painted and with a second row of planks done: And that's it for today. Thanks for looking in, and happy modelling :) Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.
Happy building :-) http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Nice start on the planking and a nice fix. Now you need to be patient and measure twice and cut once taking your time here will soon give you the experience to go forward at a steady pace. Above all read everything and reference the official build to double check. If your still unsure just ask its what we are here for. Keep up the good work. Hi Michu, she's coming along nicely. Just take your time, make sure you study each section of the instructions thoroughly to get a full understanding of how you are going to tackle each task, doing this before doing any work on your build will help you tremendously. Same with the official build, study each stage and I believe you will find things will go a lot smoother for you and any mistakes will be lessened.. .. Any doubts then shout and someone will be along to give you the answers you seek.... .. Keep your pics coming and if I spot anything that doesn't look right then I'll let you know.... .. Will be following your progress all the way.... Regards Alan
