Hi Everyone:

I just got my San Felipe ship in. I bougt it all at once. I started it last night and I have my first question. When you put the planks down for the deck, is there any reason that you can't varnish them now instead of later on after they are mounted to the ship. I know that it shows it later in the instructions.BigGrin

It pays to seal the planking as soon as you can so i would certainly take that path. But as your new better to keep to the instructions just in case.

What I do is lay the planks on the deck. Once all laid I sand smooth then seal them. My choice is Danish oil, but you can use Semi sheen varnish too. Leave it to thoroughly dry and then you will be fine. But like Jase says best keeping to the instructions unless u feel confident that you can do it now. BigGrin
