I have test fitted some of the enhancement parts and apart from a little trimming, as per the instructions, all seem ok. I have fitted my 3 guide tubes - one to each compartment - and once the glue has dried I will trim all the ends flush with the hull/bulkheads and then continue with the planking. I did check that I could feed wires through the tubes before gluing them  . Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):

Hi Graeme, Those parts for the torpedo room fit in beautifully - I can see they're only dry fitted at the moment, but what a difference it's going to make to the finished model. Good to see them going in. WTG Happy building David

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I have now finished the first layer of planking (except for the bow area) and given it a rough sanding in preparation for the 2cnd layer next month. I have also cut out the framework in the control room and engine room areas and fitted the floor to the control room. The next job is to cut down the starboard plastic bow piece and start prepping the resin parts for the torpedo room. I have been investigating the number and colour of lights in the 3 cutout areas but get more confused as I go. Initially, as I have said in previous posts, I read that there were only white lights in the engine room with red and blue lights in the other areas (blue to signify silent running). However, on examining the panoramic images on the DVD I have of the U-995 (a type VIIc boat as well) I saw a single red and a green light (not blue) in the engine room and no red in the torpedo room, although I am going to go back and re-examine all the images as it is difficult to see as flourescent lights have been strung along all compartments for visitor H&S I presume. I will be concentrating on the torpedo room for now as it will be way down the line before the internals for the control room and engine room are fitted. Looking at a German site which shows the magazine build instructions for all current issues there is no sign of any internal structures abd they are up to issue 79. Happy building David PS: How did you find the job of planking? Did you find many places where the wood will be either to deep or too high? Just that on doing mine, I noticed a lot of places where the wood is already level with the surface of the plastic mouldings and it appears there will be one heck of a lot of sanding to do after the 2nd planking is finished.

Cheers David, thanks for the link but I ordered some Lifecolour paints yesterday for the Outer Hull, Vallejo Ivory for some interior and the rest inside are just variations in White (so is Ivory I suppose but I thought I'd order it and see what it is like).
As for the planking, I agree with you, a lot of sanding with maybe a bit of filler at the stern.

Just a quick update, I have trimmed up most of the resin parts and they seem to fit ok. I still have the flash and outside edge of the upper floor over the torpedo storage to remove and the ceiling parts to modify for lighting but the rest are ready for washing, priming and painting prior to fitting the various valve wheels and gluing in place - easier said than done. Hi Graeme. I have been reading through your build log and I have to say that you are making a first class job of your build. The fwd torpedo room enhancement kit certainly improves the whole starboard side of the model and to even add lighting as well, is a credit to you. I don't think I will be going that far with my model, just stick to the original I think, as I can't really afford to splash out for the enhancement kit, having already just ordered the Honda CB750 Motorbike collection as well. This has now upped my models budget, but I love classic bikes as well. Besides, SWMBO is looking over my shoulder as I write. Yes dear, I am not going to buy any more models just yet! Anyway Graeme, I wish you luck and hope you have success with your lighting. I will be following your build with interest. ALARM!!!! Geoff. A quick mod to the previous pic. On re-examining images of the tube doors on the U-995, the center pin should be a valve handle with locking lever. I took a copper eye pin and soldered the gap between the eye and stem. I then cut the close to the soldered joint and straitened the longer end which will be the locking lever. The valve handle will later be glueg to the short end. Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):
