Thanks guysBigGrin - Yes, Ian - the 1st layer is hardwood as it is the visible inside layer.

2nd layer is in progress, I'm able to to cut planks short and fit filler segments etc as this wont be seen so this will speed up this layer. I cant do this on the 3rd layer though as the planks on these boats were one piece from bow to stern with no breaks.
Seems strange planking a lightwood over a darkwood thoughBigGrin

Thanks Alan / Martyn -

2nd layer finished and it does feel a lot more stable now. I have used some filler on the in-between layer to get a very even base for the last layer of hardwood.
The last layer is not a veneer, it's the same thickness planking as the first 2 layers so will end up at just under 3mm thick when doneBigGrin

More soon.

Wow, this is ultra-sweet. I'm following this build with a lot of interest and I'm looking forward to see the hull fully done - this is a very interesting build technique.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated as alwaysLaugh

3rd and final layer in progress, I'm doing both sides at the same time as Id like the planking to match on each side.

Next post will be when this layer is complete and I can then remove all the framesLaugh I cant wait to get the insides sanded smooth!
