Hi Sinbad, the planking strips provided with kits like these do vary slightly in widths, have never yet seen a kit where all of the planks are exactly the same width. It then stands to reason that these small differences can cause the kind of problem you are describing. Providing your ribs are correctly seated, the fairing and planking has been done evenly then the only problem this is likely to bring up is the appearance of uneven planking. If you are painting the model or applying copper tiling then it won't be a issue at all as everything will be hidden. It wouldn't look right though if you decided to go down the route of having the build in a natural wood look. Trying to get planking to look exactly even on both sides of the hull is an art in itself and the more ships people build the better they get in mastering this art.
