A very interesting post Steve and some great pictures, thanks.  
Up until just as they were starting to build Terminal 5, I was a taxi driver doing the airport runs and was at either Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted from East Sussex most days of the week, but I've always had a soft spot for Heathrow and miss the hustle and bustle of going there quite often .... even if I had to endure many stationary hours on the M25 motorway as part of the deal!!
Though some who live locally might not agree with me, I think it's right that Heathrow should get a third runway as it is badly needed and the overwhelmingly saturated number of flights in and out of there daily is bordering on dangerous if it were to be left as it is? Something needs to be done to ease the congestion in my opinion?
