Hi, I'm in Durbs, so can't help much about tools, etc in Joeys, but check your yellow pages or google for hobby shops near you, they will all stock what you need, although you may have to shop around a bit. Otherwise, you can always make your own tools. I built my first 3 ships with all home made tools. (A hand drill in a vice makes a perfect small s cale lathe, for example.) You will definitely need some good tweezers, preferably 1 long and 1 short, and clothes pegs are your friends... A craft knife is also essential. Pins, safety pins and the tinyest drill bits you can find are also very useful. For making holes in wood, I got some long thin metal rods and groung long points on them. Then, to make the holes, just put the point where it needs to be, and roll the rod between your fingers. Part time modeller, full time biker

Hi
I agree with Quintin concerning the tools he mentioned. Also, you will find that most of what you will need to start can be purchased from a good hardware store. I do not think you wiil need to go to a hobby shop until you require more specalist tools such as plank benders etc. You do not mention if you are buying from CNA or alike or you have subscribed. If you subscribed you will get the free tool kit down the line. Definately the specalist tool requirements are months away for us in SA.
I am building the Constructo HMS Victory and I have the hull half planked and I have not yet required a tool from a hobby shop just the local Mica.
As regards to hobby stores in Gauteng I understand there is a very good one in Menlyn shopping centre in Pretoria but the name esapes me at the moment. I will find out and post it tomorrow.
Best regards Ray
