I thought whilst waiting for the next pack and now that I've got all 4 wheels and tyres then I'd take the opportunity to 'rough' up the tyres. I used 1500 grit and wish I'd used 800 as was advised as it took ages. But I'm happy with the result.

Great result on them tyres. Would be great if it could have the rubber bobbles on them too.

Tyres look really good,how did you get such a good finish and also such an accurate line around the the edge of the tyre?

The finish was achieved by using a finer grade of paper but it took longer to do. I used 1500 grit. It's not hard to get the line at the edge as long as you keep the paper flat across the tyre when rubbing and not go round the edge onto the side wall and I always rubbed in a linear motion and not across the tyre face.

Excellent work so far Steve, this is turning into one to watch.Very nice build, all very neat and tidy and those tyres look fabulous, they will certainly add a nice touch of realism to the finished model - very well done!!

I think you made the right choice to use the finer grade abrasive even though it took longer? If you had used the more coarse grade it could possibly have torn the surface of the vinyl tyres and ended looking a little rough, but yours looks spot on - nice job sir!! Cool

Front, back and sides on the engine now.

Got a bit of an issue with fitting 1 of the plugs top the right cam cover.
