BigGrin Hi All

Started on the stern gallerys firstly adding the inner captains cabin partition with its windows and pillars then the outer stern plate was glued in place, a small amount of filler and a sanding allowed the gallery area to be painted dull black. I also painted the one side of the hull with its first coat of dull black. Next it was time to start adding the side gallery which was bending the shaped brass rod and adding the etch parts still have the windows to add here. The stern casting have also been prepared by being given a light filing over and then primed ready for the top coat. More soon.

Regards

BigGrin Thanks everyone for looking in and your comments, just realised that I I have used the wrong shaped section on the gallery so all the brass has come off and will be replaced by the correct profile sectionCrying . My own fault for not looking at the plans closely enough but easily fixedBlink .

BigGrin Hi All

Back on track with the gallery now the correct profiles have now been used and to my eye now a great improvement to the brass profile that I originally used and now looks rightDrool Love . Well I think so anyways LOL. The white you can see in the windows is the glue-n-glaze going off and will clear once dried then a small amount of touch up here and there. I also started painting the yellow stripes so I have a border to work up to rather than having to touch up when the hull is painted properly in this area. More soon.

BigGrin Hi everyone

Thanks for looking in and your comments as always very much appreciated,

@Dave; Yes she is being brush painted using Caldercraft paints as they are formulated to give a good finish using a brush. It also falls in with the look I am after. I am building her to look as she was around the time of Trafalgar when she was around 20 years old and starting to look a little care worn, also at this time she was suffering from the slow destruction of all the iron bolts holding the hull together from the reaction of coppering the hull and sea water causing the iron to slowly dissapear. It would take several more years and experimentation to find a suitable copper alloy that would be strong enough to replace the iron and save all the royal navy,s ships from disintigrating. Two ships were lost in a storm and the blame placed squarely on this problem.

BigGrin Hi All

Just a small update the hull has now had 3 coats of dull black on both sides just awaiting the arrival of more Tamiya masking tape so I can complete the yellow stripes, still not sure about going lighter with the yellow [ like in the picture of the stern] so I think I will just leave it as is. The side gallery's continue to be fitted [ the black paint is still wet in parts] just the windows and glazing to finish here then its the stern area to finish. More soon.

Regards

BigGrin Hi All

One side of the hull has been fully painted now with the black and yellow stripes so it will give a good idea of the finished ship, the yellow masts should also set her off a treat too. The gun port covers have still to be added but that will be done towards the end along with the lower deck's dummy guns which will be blackened using Krick metal blackener [just received 2 bottles in the postDrool Love ] .More soon.
