Looking good. I am still looking for a suitable addition to complete my Jupiter build. Have already completed my Trestle (36 inches) and with the Train being approx 20 inches I have a maximum of 16 inches for the caboose. The Occre Wagon is the right scale and will fit so I will be watching your mods with interest. One of the problems I am finding is that there does not appear to be a single standard scale for "G". The Jupiter and the OcCre wagon are 1:32 scale but a lot of the rolling stock available on EBay and other sites are 1:20 scale and therefore too large Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

yes I couldn't find a 1/32 scale boxcar anywhere. The Jupiter is really Guage 1 rather than G scale.I am almost finished with the wagon and then I will move on to the caboose. I will use the Bachmman G scale Caboose I bought for the base of my caboose, but replace the whole top portion with a scratchbuilt frame that is accurately scaled to 1/32.I will do some drawings again so feel free to copy them if you want to make your own caboose. Once the wagon is finished I will be painting it.I have almost finished painting so I can also start assembling the train and tender over the next couple of weeks.I wont be able to do any painting next week because my spraybooth is in my basement which is having asbestos abatement done. I bought some nice cedar for the trestle, but it needs to be cut down to size because it is scaled for a g scale train. Looks like I will probably just make it to be fi9nished by the end of the year at this rate.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. This project has ballooned a bit, but I still enjoying the challenges it is presenting to me.

OK time to add the detail parts to the boxcar. This included the door and door hardware.I still need to add window bars and the ladders at each end ,but I will do those after painting. So now its off to the spraybooth and we will pick up on the boxcar for the roof assembly and wheels after painting of the body. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

So the major painting of the train and tender are done just in time to free up the spraybooth for the boxcar. Now it is time to start assembling the train and tender. So while we are waiting for the boxcar to come out of the spraybooth we will do some final assembly. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

We will start by assembling the front truck and the wheels for the tender.I overdrilled to hole for half of the wheels so I could paint them first and then slip on the wheel after the axles was threaded through the chassis.I filled the center of the wheels where the axles went through because the gold stars did not cover the space and it bothered my obsessive compulsive mind to see the brass axle. I bent the wheel guards and painted them and then applied them once the wheels were in place. The final step was to add the gold stars to the center of the wheels. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

The next step was to do the 2 4 wheel trucks for the tender. This was done pretty much the same way as the front truck.I used a piece of G scale track to ensure the wheels were 45 mm apart.I then added the brake details and suspension piece.I added a transfer onto the suspension piece (more about transfers later). darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Moving on to the sand dome and light. These needed to have transfers applied. OCCRE provides a sheet of transfers for all the fancy parts of the train.I am really not sure what they are. They look like decals, but are applied backwards onto the surface. If you really hate someone then I would recommend sending them some of these transfers and asking them to apply them. They are a NIGHTMARE to deal with. They could easily be considered a form of torture. You cut them out and then apply water to the backing film and hope (usually in vain) that they release from the backing paper onto the model surface. As they get wet they get really slippery and it is virtually impossible to see if they are lined up properly. So you end up cautiously removing the backing paper and hoping you can gently poke them into the right position.Of course once they finally release from the backing paper they stick to the model like glue and are very difficult to move.I ended up soaking them with water and lifting the decal off completely onto my finger and repositioning it.Most of the time they decided they would rather stick to my finger than the model and when I did coax them back onto the model they folded and I had to start over. So here are the results of my efforts so far with the transfers on the light and the sand dome.I am dreading applying them onto the tender and cab. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Those decal's sound like a nightmare to place and makes you wonder why they provide them in that format the only reason I can think of is because its the cheapest alternative to providing decent decals. Love your boxcar the only thing missing is the hobo hitching a lift or is it boxcar wilie . Keep the update's comming Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thanks everyone. Now it is time to start assembly of the engine. The wheels were installed and the pistons were fitted and the connecting rods attached.it actually does run on the track pretty well.In fact I had to be careful as it tended to roll along the track as I was installing parts. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Told you they where a nightmare. There are a lot of decals on this model some of which have not survived my attempts to put on my model of the Jupiter. That is why I have opted to use brass rods to make my own decals. The smaller one I have still to attach to the tender (next job honest). I am at present bending, painting the Wheel arches, got a nice curve on them with no kinks. I am still using plumbing parts "borrowed" from my son as formers and they seem to do the job. I use 15mm 22mm and 28mm parts which gives me a wide variety of options for the size of curve I need One thing you might be able to help me with. The wheel arches have brass curves attached to the edges. I am not sure looking at the pictures/instructions whether they are attached to the top, the edge or the underside of the arch ?? Thanks guys.
I started doing the decals on the cab Gil and it did not go well. They really are ridiculous.THey either float right off the backing paper or stick to it like glue.I found some yellow pinstriping that I used for most of the detail.Even when the decals stick the yellow is very faint and you cant really see the line well at all.OCCRE gets a F from me for the transfers/decals whatever these things are.
As far as the curves on the wheel guards go the instructions are very vague about how to attach these. I bought some aluminium rods because I figured they would be easy to bend and didn't need painting.I am going to sand then so there is a flat surface and then attach them on the edge of the wheels guards if I can with some epoxy. That is the plan.It may change if I cant get a good flat surface or they don't stick well.Plan B will be to apply them on the inside of the wheel guard and then fill and paint the edge. That is a ton more work so hopefully plan A will work for me.
I did go back and look at the videos I found of the real train and it looks like the silver edge on the wheel guards is attached to the edge of the wheelguard.
I will be hopefully finishing the decals on the cab tonight and I will post some pics once I am done.
The boxcar has been painted now and I will be adding some more detail on the insides and starting on the roof.

The cab exterior is just about finished.I just have to apply the metal detail parts and then work on the interior. The ridiculous decals fought me again so I gave up on them and used pinstriping tape.I will coat the exterior with some clear coating (probably future floor polish). darbyvet attached the following image(s):

While the paint is drying on the cab interior parts I figured I would do a test fit of some of the parts. darbyvet attached the following image(s):
