Sooooo I recently saw a completely unbuilt Victory on a certain big auction web site and snagged it, because why not.  This'll be a painted build with full sails. If you're going to build your first ship, always go all the way in. It heightens the chances for comedy. Yours, not mine, i fear.
I'll also be building the cross section alongside (in fact that is where the priority will be when the subscription actually starts at some point in tyool 2015).

Here's issue 1 done and a pic of my somewhat crude but rather effective "rib de-warper" (the parts are 5 years old after all)

I love watching these wooden ships come together and as a first time builder myself I know how daunting they can seem. I hope you enjoy building her as much as I am enjoying building the Trinny. Look forward to seeing more your build

Love your Trinny. She looks like an advertisement for wooden boats, she's so clean. Aww thanks for the comment, I'm loving building her. I do find I am using a lot of glue though, I just use a tissue and cotton bud to clean up any that squelches out when I put the part in place

Issue 2 Went a bit hog wild during filing the anchor stock so I had waaaay to much space when fitting the shank. Slapped some modeling putty in there and if you didn't know it you wouldn't even know it. Also there was about half as much thread supplied as was needed for the bands, so for the first time in more than 20 years I opened up the emergency sewing kit Mom gave me when I left home. Found some fitting thread, all's good with the world.   Still waiting for my cross section.

So I may have a problem.  As you can see, one part of the keel extension in issue 3 is slightly out of sync with the rest. Will this screw with my build? I'm thinking I should water and press it. Any ideas?

I would be inclined to wet the keel piece and try to flatten out under some heavy weights. It should come out as the warp doesn't look to bad in your pic... Ensuring the keel is straight will go a long way to preventing problems further down the line and for me the removing of any warping would be a must. There is also another two options for you to consider, first you could purchase model quality ply and try to cut a new keel although this wouldn't be my preferred option. The second is to purchase a back order of Issue 3.

Alan Thanks Alan, I watered the piece for an hour and it dewarped itself. It's now going to spend a few days in the press and hopefully will retain the shape.

Issue 4 All bow formers are placed  and the carronade is finished.  Had to make a new eyebolt from scratch after I lost one. There's better ways to spend an evening than trying to file down flexible wire to half it's diameter.
