Aft Portside Davits added along with the Lifeboat Guard rails. The railing that divides the Officers Promenade from the First Class Passengers Promenade has been moved to its correct position adjacent to the 3rd Davit aft, rather than the 4th. Olympics was originally adjacent to the 4th Davit but it was found that the Crew didnt need as much space so it was given over to Passengers.

Both masts have been added and the aft cranes. I have also started the rigging on the Forward mast. Also added an extremely blown up image of the Bridge instruments as well.

Hi All

Just a quick message to say that The Titanic has not been forgotten. I work seasonally and so I am awaiting the return to work in a few weeks. The last 2 etches I need are the B deck walls and the Promenade Deck walls. Then it will be final fitting out and I'm thinking I may construct a Southampton dockside diorama for her to sit at.

Progress has been almost at a standstill for a while now. I'm waiting for when funds allow the purchase of the Brass etches for A Deck and B & C decks. €300 for both so it may be a little while longer yet. However the lifeboats have been started and progress on these will be shown soon.

Ok update time.

The forward Well Deck cranes have been fitted.

The lifeboats have all been placed into their chocks. Now they await the covers.

The remainder of the rigging at the stern has been completed and the final 2 cranes on Aft A Deck added.

And finally the propellers have been fitted. In this view you can really see how twisted the keel was on this model. While I did manage to correct it somewhat, this model will definitely only be viewable from the side.

Progress has been made on the funnels as well. They have had a coat of something akin to White Star Buff that I am happy with, though it may not be to everyone's taste, and the black tops are now drying after their coat. Until the next time, happy modelling.

Glad to see you are back on your build.

I have this one in my collection of kits still to build and have managed to get most of the brass sets from France. I see that Minibrass have just added a new grill for the oval done they produce.

I also managed to pick up the Amati pkan set and etch set this hachette kit is based on.

Your build has been very inspirational and so makes me want to start mine but too many other things on the go at the moment Confused
Happy Modelling

Great to know that someone else will build due to me lol. The oval dome cover he has just added is due to me. I wasn't happy with the square one so I gave him all the correct dimensions in order to get it made. Glad I did too. Looks so much better!

Very well done for that. The oval dome will be a great addition. I am still unsure of the 2 sets they do for the sides of the promanard decks because the appear to be steel etch rather than brass and they do not appear to have any surface detail. The amati etch set has this etch for just one of the decks but is more detailed with rivet detail. Its a difficult decision as the minibrass parts are the most expensive of the sets.

I do not want to hold off too long in finishing the collection of these parts because you never kniw when they might stop making them.

Hope the rest of your build goes well. BigGrin

Ok we have one more update for saturday. I am happy to say Titanic is now a 4 funnelled Liner. I am very happy with the way these have turned out. The colour is called grey beige, but to me, this is a far better colour than the Yellow Ochre suggested by Amati in the magazine.

And the best part is, the funnels are very nearly all straight lol. Happy Modelling
