BigGrin Hi All

The bow headrails/furniture has now been added along with some more decoration on the roundhouse bulkhead. Next job will be to make up the 24 gum carriages and 18 pounders with flintlocks that go on them along with all the other deck furniture and windlass. Then the upper deck goes on. I have also found out that the Agamemnon although classed as a 64 gunner, third rate she also carried 12, 24 pound carronades that were not counted as being part of her gun compliment. So this would make her a 76 gunner and nelson wanted a 74 when he got the Agamemnon Blink LOL. More soon.

Regards

AndyCool

BigGrin Thanks everyone for looking in and your comments the railing may look a little delicate but its stronger than it looks. I forgot to add that the parts from the kit were all flat so for the first time I tried some carving on some of the parts came out quite well I think.Cool

Looking superb Andy. Also looks as if there is some real complex wood bending going on to get the beak looking just right and your carving skills certainly enhance it all. An excellent result.... Drool Drool

BigGrin BigGrin Hi All

Just a small update, I have started making up the central gratings/stairwells and capstan. The capstan is made up from a piece of dowel and several pre-cut parts this left the top flat and it did not look right so I added another disc to the top and shaped it to get the curve on the top.
The capstan has been painted and just needs the cannon balls added to the racks the gratings have yet to be painted and again cannon balls added to the racks. The froward ridding bitt as supplied [pre-cut 5mm walnut] will need to be widened to accomadate the stove but the normal bits should be fine. Next it will be to make up the two ladders down to the main gun deck and the gun carriages for this deck. More soon.

Regards

BigGrin Hi All

I ran out of the soft metal cast and shaped rods so I ordered some more from Caldercraft which arrived today along with the 24 lb carronade kit I ordered. Caldercraft do kits that contain the parts for two carronades in 18lb,24lb and 32lb with working screw adjustment they also just sell the turned brass carronade barrels. The kit comes in a plastic bag with the barrels and etch parts in a separate compartment to the wooden and other parts along with a double sided set of comprehensive instructions. The barrel and etch parts are nicely finished but the wooden parts suffered a little from the ravages of the postman, a couple of the parts getting separated from the fret but no damage to the parts themselves. Altogether a nice little kit.
I have already mentioned that the Agamemnon carried 12 carronades above her normal compliment of guns. I think I may get 6 altogether and have them on the forecastle where there are no guns mounted. More soon.

Regards

Andy

Those carronade kits look really good Andy, they'll certainly look good on her deck. You did a good job of the capstan, I agree that it wouldn't have looked right with a flat top.
Happy building
David
