Thanks for the comments A bit more progress, firstly, made a start on the main cannon - the wooden parts for this were plywood and not a good look. I didnt have any walnut sheet so decided to veneer the parts with walnut instead, came out ok - certainly better than ply anyway. Very surprised that these were not walnut in the first place when you think of how much walnut was supplied, practically all the insides are made from it! Next it was time to cut, shape and fit the 6 benches and brackets. This went quite smoothly apart from bench 3 (with the mast hole) As this bench had to line up exactly with the base mast hole I couldnt have it fitted directly over a rib like the other benches, it would have helped if this was mentioned when fitting the base block but the instructions didnt even say exactly where the hole in the base block should be Nevermind, It's prob only me that will notice it This was also a good time to give it a coat of Georgian Oak danish oil too Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Thanks guys, the comments mean a lot I dont like making accessories for models, I like making them even less at the end of a build so I have decided to get them all out of the way at this stage and then I can forget about them. There are a lot of bits to add to this build and they are all mostly made from scratch using the plans and instructions. There are 6 baskets / buckets, various cannon loading and cleaning tools, boat hook and a lot of oars, 12 I think So, the next few posts will be showing the add-ons - the last couple of sessions I have been making the water bucket and the powder charges basket, containing the charges in 2 calibres. These were made by using 2 discs and planking the sides, the top disc was not glued in place as this needed to be removed when the plank glue had dried. They were then stained and rope wrapped. The water bucket has some clear casting resin inside to look like water. There is also going to be an anchor cable basket, rag basket, cannon ball trays and basket. The tools made so far are a cleaning swab, a rag scooper to retrieve the old rag wadding from the barrel, a cannon ball scoop, a boat hook and push rod to compress the charge and wadding. All the tools are for the big gun, not sure if I will make a set for the small guns yet, no mention of it in the plans anyway. More soon! Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):
