Can I ask if there is any reason why we can't nail the gun deck support beams to the ribs as we did on the lower deck?

The issue 19, only seems to refer to glueing them in place which doesn't seem to be sufficient, even though I have cut the beam to get the flexibility for the curve.

Is it just a personal choice thing?

Would like to hear what the rest of you have done.

Many thanks,

Berkeley.

You'll find that you wont be able to pin the middle deck gun rails.

These rails are intended to sit upright to the deck, and therefore an angled gap between the rail and inside of each frames is the case, and where pins will not be long enough to straddle the gap.

Thanks Mr T.

That clears up the other thing I was wondering about aswell! Whether they should sit upright with a gap to the rib, or pushed in flush with the rib, thus leaving the support on an angle!

Once again, many thanks,

Berkeley.

Oops,Blushing I have shamfered mine so that they sit back against the ribs which will probably mean I shall have to compensate when fitting the cannon stubs.Confused Why the hell shape the ribs like that.Cursing If these supports should have been upright surely the face of the ribs should have been upright.Angry It would seem someone has goofed somewhere in the design.Glare What design?Angry What happened to the knees by the way? Poor old Horatio will not have anything to lean against!Mad I think the poor old Chatham shipwrights will be turning in their graves.LOL
