Lovely work Graeme, those extras really start to bring the model to life. Can't wait to see the rest of the torpedo room finished. That 'Vallejo' Ivory looks just the part on the bulkhead Well done.Love

Thanks for all the positive comments guys.
Here's another quick update. I have now fitted all the walls and started to add the lights to the ceiling parts. I have removed the 2 moulded lights and will replace them with white lights and I have drilled the holes for 2 red and 1 blue light. Their positions are arbitrary as I couldn't find exact locations for these.

Before painting the ceiling I decided to prep the 'H' beam from which a torpedo is slung over the bunks.
A brass 'H' beam is supplied with the enhancement parts and I cut this to length after checking the panoramic images of the U-995. As, like the hand wheels, I wanted to leave installing this until work on the hull was complete I decided to fit pins to the beam and drill suitable holes in the moulded supports on the ceiling casting. I filed one end of the pins to a point so I could use them to mark the resin supports with the exact positions for the holes.
Pic 1 shows the 'H' beam next to the ceiling parts.
pic 2 shows 0.8mm holes being drilled in the beam to accept the pins.
Pic 3 shows the pins (cut from 0.8mm brass wire)placed in the holes.
Pic 4 shows the 'H' beam in the vice and the soldering equipment.
Pic 5 is a close up of a pin with solder paste around the joint.
Pic 6 is the pin after soldering.
Pic 7 shows the beam with the pins next to the ceiling part.
Pic 8 shows the beam test fitted into the ceiling.
Pic 9 shows the beam test fitted after the pins have been cut to length.
I then removed the the beam and all parts are now ready for spraying.

I have now painted the ceiling pieces, installed the lights and glued them in place. There is still a bit of filling to be done and touching up the paint work before fitting the torpedo tubes.
As I have said before, all the detail bits (hand wheels, torpedo etc.) will be left until the hull is finished as the torpedo room will need to be sealed (packed with tissue) while the hull is sprayed.
The torpedoes I received had no propellers with them so I have had to try scratch building them. They are 8mm diameter with 5 blades on each prop. The last pic shows my attempt, it is made from thick aluminium foil painted with Alclad brass colour. The blades are a bit angular and the blades still need to be bent to the correct pitch. Each torpedo has 2 props with opposing pitch.

I have now fitted the torpedo tubes (pics 1 & 2) and modified the nose of the torpedoes. The arming prop on the nose is made from a piece of solder flattened and shaped at each end leaving a bit in the centre to represent the cone (pics 3 & 4).
I am waiting for paint to arrive for the torpedoes and the rear props will be added after painting.
That is the torpedo room finished for now as all the hand wheels, bunks and torpedoes will be added toward the end of the build.
I have fitted the forward plastic hull pieces. Both of these need a fair bit plastic removed from the inside to get them to fit over the resin enhancement parts.
I can can now finish the first layer of planking and then get the second layer done and sanded.
