Ok just got the shipment notice for my fist series cant wait to get started and joining the rest of you all in this wonderful project.

I have not done any models for a long time and am looking for a list of items one should have ready once the kits start to show up, already plan on a Air Brush kit in a few weeks from what I have seen so far wont really need any paint till the 2nd month show up so I wanted to focus on the other items, what glue or glues should I get, also what tools or other items do you all recommend as must haves for the beginning?

Any and all advice is welcomed

Look forward to the Journey

Welcome Racersims

You've picked a great kit Cool

I would say the essential tools that will be needed are;

Side cutter
Tweezers
Super Glue
Files
Cocktail sticks

Have been spending more time watching youtube think i have seen most of them and wow there is some really great stuff going on. I got my first 4 issues but still waiting on paint supplies, got some of it but not some of the primary ones i need first, have been "prepping" what i can, made a diy paint booth with some cardboard and some spare parts form my work. Also picked up a 1/48 scale colonial viper from the classic Battlestar galactica to use as a practice piece before i i try on the falcon. I did give it a try on the quad guns and carved out the tips. Will try to up load some pics

This is my first model that I'm using an airbrush on. The front seats were my first things painted that way.

I like your spray booth. I am wanting to learn air brush techniques, so like you, I have watched a lot of YouTube.

Haven't decided on an airbrush yet, but I like the Paasche and Iwata.. Dual action of course.

I got the Master brand G-23 in this little general purpose kit came with this little compressor was less then 50 bucks and figured it was a good starting point I can upgrade the compressor if need and tweak it from there, and if I mess up and screw up the airbrush at least it was not an expensive one.

I need to upgrade it the ideal was sound but after priming a couple parts "primer is the real reason for booth" I need it to move more air, at the moment its a 50 cfm bath fan that I had laying around, that's not enough it can barely hold filter in place and I found myself a little light headed after priming parts, no were near as bad as without it, I run an AC and Heating Co, and had a couple used blower assemblies from a small gas furnace its 110volts so with a little modification will be able to incorporate that and get the airflow in to the 200 to 300 cfm range that should not only get all the fumes but any stray dog hairs in the area, will update once I get it done.

My spraybooth is in the basement so it does get dust and cobwebs.I turn the fan on and let it run for a few minutes before I start painting and that helps to avoid the big floaters settling onto my paint job and gets the air cleaner. You do need quite a large airflow to capture the fumes adequately.

if you are using rattle cans even a decent spraybooth wont get all the overspray. You are better off spraying that outside.I have quite a large spraybooth and it struggles with the volume of spray from cans.My airbrushes work fine because the paint volume is much lower. If I do my rattle can spraying indoors I wear a respirator

Absolutely with your background a home made spraybooth should be a cakewalk. I would love to see some pics of the finished product

I am suddenly reminded of the part in Apollo 13 when they need to fit the square filter into the round hole DUCT TAPE TO THE RESCUE!!! promise no socks will be harmed in the making of this booth. lol

Had some delays in my build, got my 2nd month but was missing some parts but Model space is great and is sending out replacements looks like we like I will have some spare parts when its all done and said..

this has at least give me time to build my supplies and tweak my work area.

Still waiting on the replacement parts but in the meantime have finished my latest paint booth the last one with the blower from a furnace was to much and the dam thing burned out in a few minutes after hooking up, but then I was looking though all my spare parts at work and found this great inline booster for a duct line, its pushes or in my case pulls 200 cfm and is strong enough to pull the filter in tight when 6" away from hole.

It had a cracked housing so we cant wsell it but a little tape and it was sealed, and had a great mounting

A plastic container made a nice transition for it

I dont have the final picture but will add later the 7" duct I ran from it to the windo that I wanted it to go out gives my work area a real Falcon feel. I also updated my desktop image to give inspiration
