Workers from the National Museum of the Royal Navy said the new shade would be more authentic than the current orange hue after scraping off 72 layers of paint to find the original colour.

I was on the Victory a few weeks ago. There is a lot being done to it, they have a tent on the deck where they are working on making it more weather resistant. It was a bit odd as they have removed some of the deck which let light into the decks below. Finished 3D Printer, RB7, Hummer, Skyrider drone & Combat tank collection http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Here is a couple of pics to help people take a view on this. Victory as of 10th August 2015. The pail colour is the new, historically correct shade. I could not work out if the red was a brighter shade or it was down to fresh paint. but look at the two windows near the gallery in the second pic, quite a contrast! Wow, that's an interesting colour. Much better in my opinion. Looks like somewhere between beige and tan.

When you zoom in it looks like a pale pinky sort of colour, who's gonna be painting their Vic this colour, any takers ? Building: DelPrado HMS Victory. Building: DeAgostini Sovereign Of The Seas.

No! No! and Thrice NO!!! Must admit though, when they said 'Lemon Yellow' I was having nightmares! That tan colour doesn't look too bad though. I always thought that Nelson and Hardy both used the standard cheapo Admiralty buff yellow since neither of them was particularly wealthy (that's the Royal Navy Admiralty, not those purveyors of top class acrylic paints by the way!  ) I could live with that new one but I'm not doing a re-paint for anyone!  What exactly do they mean by 'original colour' though? Since she was commissioned in 1778, how many coats of paint had she got on after 27 years? That's the Daily Mail inventing stuff again. The original press release by the Dockyard never mentioned "original colors" or "lemon yellow". The release talks about "Battle of Trafalgar colors" and "pale yellow".

No, please tell me the pic has been photo shopped, that's not the image of the old girl we have all come to know and love..  .. Should start a campaign to have her returned to the colour scheme we've come to adore.... Regards Alan

I actualy like the colour. And yes The historick dick strives to get Victory to be as close to how sh looked at Trafalgar as possible. This is something I really don't understand. So Jotika is doing an updated model "in close cooperation with the dockyard". And the marines walk looks like this again, not reaching the bowsprit:  Nearly every model out here has the marines walk short like this including the DeAg Victory. Yet when one looks at the actual Victory the marines walk clearly goes a lot further. http://www.segelschiffsm...beyond-52.html#msg34950

The beige colour looks more like an undercoat colour and somehow looks wrong by comparison of yellow ochre or even lemon yellow, don't like it
