BigGrin Hi All

I grew up watching this series many years ago and I always remember being green with envy as my mate had the model all painted up and built by his dad and what made it worse I had no idea this sort of kit was available at the time. My scope of kits available at that time was Kiel Kraft gliders and free flight plus the odd Airfix kit.
So I have decided to finally treat myself and got the kit of flea-bay for £12.99 Im not sure if its the 1/12 or 1/128 the guy selling it says its 1/12 but I think its a typo so its the mini version at 1/128 making it around 120 mm long all inBlink Drool Love. The kit has a full interior that is viewable by lifting off the outer hull but it is printed cardboard but Im sure there is a resin item out there somewhere any help on this would be appreciated. So far I have managed to get hold of the etch grill set and the mini lighting kit as extra's. I have found the resin window set but I think its a bit steep in cost for what it is. More soon as the parts arrive.

Regards

Nice one Andy!Cool
I remember that series well, I think at the time the kit would have been by the old American "Aurora" company, they did lots of old sci-fi models back then, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Invaders (probably a lot more besides). Oh and a load of horror movie characters as well.
Will be watching this one with great nostalgia!

BigGrin BigGrin Thanks everyone for looking in and your comments, Robin you are correct about it originaly being by Aurora along with the glow in the dark monster kits like 'The creature from the black lagoon' from the film and the classics like the mummy and frankenstien. I have found there was a resin replacement interior for the card one in the Aurora kit but its long out of production and I can replicate the window out of plasticard. More soon.

Look forward to seeing you start this one. I used to love watching land of the giants as kid i always remember them using cotton and a safety pin as a grappling hook and rope. Great days.BigGrin

BigGrin Hi All

The beast has arrivedDrool LOL Love Blink Laugh , The box art is typical Moebius with the build and paint instructions on the rear, not a huge model as I suspected but still nicely moulded in orange plastic and clear plastic parts. Also inside the box were a nice set of decals and a printed cardboard interior set. All in all a nice little kit im not a fan of card interiors but I doubt if I will track down the resin kit so it will have to do. Now I just need the lighting kit to arrive so this baby can go together. More soon.

Regards

I hope you will get it soon. I have ordered something from Australia few weeks ago and had a moment of joy when I saw Heathrow in the tracking website. Then 'customs cleared'. Then Hong Kong, Köln in Germany, Stansted and finally in delivery. Then bounced off the doors just during that 10-minute span when nobody was home.

Good luck ;-)

BigGrin I agree about the so called postal services that can be found in other country's . I am still awaiting an item from China that I think is on the back of a Mongolian snail going around in circles, I somehow think that item will not arrive now. Makes you think although there not perfect how good our postal system is hereCool

BigGrin Hi Alan

Yes its several years back and scary how long but its an iconic ship like Fireball XL5 and should look a treat when built with the lighting kit. I too remember that but I also remember reading the 'Borrowers' Book before watching this and I just thought it was the Borrowers in spaceLOL Blink Cool.
