Hi Steve, I think its the adhesive used on the tape itself and it has a one chance only stick to it. Being 1mm wide aswell isnt helping as any oil from your fingers can reduce the tapes stickyness.

I'm having the same issue. I did the brake lines and 3 of the ties came off.
