Thanks for the kind comments Gentlemen,

Sorry, I've been off of the ship for the last few days. First busy at work and then in Napa with some friends this weekend. However, I did manage to get the gallery planking trimmed and now I'm ready to start the second course of 6 planks - and then another row of cannon ports.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get the next course of planks laid.

Folks,

Sorry I've been away from the build for so long. Last month through the end of September is our busiest time of year at work. Combine that with an office move, the summer heat which precludes getting a lot done in the garage, and a few short holidays with the wife and there goes a month or two. Anyway, hoping to make a little more progress through the remainder of August and September until we take our annual vacation in Europe.

Here's what's been done since last time: I've made the template for the aft section of the planking, completed three more rows of the upper hull planking, planked the forward bulkhead and trimmed it, and cut the rear gun ports. Photos below...

I hope to complete, or at least make some progress on the next three rows of planking and some cannon over the remainder of the weekend.

Andy, Alan, Steve, Dave,

Thanks for the encouragement. I finished row 10 of the planking today including tapering the bow planks and it looks nice and even and it appears that row 11 will finish just where it's supposed to. After the taper it will either come dead even with the top of the frames/formers or just above them.

I also checked how row 11 will sit above the cutaway. I notice the instructions say that the distance from the deck to the bottom of the plank should be 23mm and if not to cut a little out of the plank to end up at 23mm. However, mine will come out to be almost 24mm exactly. Should I add a thin bit of plank to the bottom of row 11 to make it 23mm exactly, or will the 24mm sort itself in the end when the cutout gets trimmed out?

Hi Dominic, if you do not have to cut anything out of row 11 then that's fine and at this stage I wouldn't go adding any thin strips, 24mm won't cause any problems as far as I can see.

Regards

Alan
