I been trying different ways to sort out the issue with parts 15A and 15b that are over-sized to the rest of the hull ribs, which would cause a bulge in the planking, it might not be a solution for everyone, but it does work on mine.

Take a scrap piece of timber and while pushing ribs 15A and 15b together (Towards each other) clamp the scrap piece of timber to the tops of each rib, to hole them in the correct place according to your other ribs as shown in the picture below, but be careful, if too much pressure is applied you could break the ribs.

This scrap piece of timber should be kept in place while planking the hull up to the top of the ribs, then when you take this scrap piece away, the ribs should now be held in place with no bulging of the planking.

As I said this may not be a solution for some of you, but I do hope it helps.

Best wishes
David

Nice to see you back matey!BigGrin Great idea so simple. Do you think there is a chance of the pressure of ribs after release popping the planking as there is only going to be single planking?
Pam's shipyard is closed for now no more room!

I think it should be OK, and I'm not too sure, but there may be a deck to go onto these ribs, if so it will be even easier, as you can glue the now clamped ribs to the plywood deck, that will keep it in place, but again, not sure so will have to see what Tomick comes up with later in his build

Best wishes
David

Hi David,
Great idea... I have slightly modified it. I made a cut halfway through the rib from behind with a razor saw. then ran thin superglue into the cut and clamped the plank in place like you until dry. Then after 2 minutes all done.

Chris...

On the bench
