Confused
I happened across the attached survey, which basically is a rating for model manufacturers who market wooden/tall ship kits. I found the survey interesting and would like some feedback from members in this forum.

Could make for an interesting discussion!!

That was a good find. I often wonder when looking at all the different kits available which ones are good and which ones to avoid. I have just put together a wish list of wooden kits that I want to do and thought 'i will just have to keep my fingers crossed that the kit is good quality and instruction are easy to do. If not then there is going to be loads of pictures and questions being posted on here in the hope that someone has already completed the kit and can advise. What we now need is to find a site that scores the actual kits as well as the manufacturers.

Cool
I'll do some "surfin" and see if I can find more useful information. Kits are expensive and the time invested even more.

One bright morning…
in the middle of the night,
two dead boys came out to fight.
They stood back to back
and faced each other
drew their swords
and shot each other.
The deaf policeman heard the noise
and came to kill
those two dead boys.
If you don’t believe my story,
its true ask the blind man he saw it too!

The one's that I have had a go with so far really show up the short comings of certain kit manufacturer's.
This is what I have found so far.
Mantua.
Top quality wood - info reasonable - Plans Basic.
( 1/98 Victory) + (HMY Brittania- did not even have a full size plan.)

Mamoli.
Reasonable quality wood - Good info- Awesome plans- Top qualty Fittings
( Golden Hind) + (HMY Brittania- Had full size plans and the sail material)

Billings.
Basic quality wood - Basic info- Basic Plans
(Le Bayard)

Corel.
Quality wood - Very Basic info - Basic Plans but better than Mantua.
(1/50 American Cutter Shenandoah)

Al yet to make one have 2 in the pipeline.
Again this is just my opinion other kits by the same manufacterer's may be better.
Built
Billings Le Bayard
Mamoli Golden Hind
