Hi Drittz.

As far as the droppers go, if you're not needing them keep going as you are. Unless you are building a 100% accurate plank for plank recreation in which case you'd have to put in the droppers where they come on the real vessel, then you're doing fine, the droppers may well be needed further on when the curvature of the hull means the planks won't bend far enough on their own but until then, go as you are.
You can't (or shouldn't)Blushing taper a plank to a sharp point, as on the real ship there'd be no means to nail the end of it to the ribs! Hence the droppers.
Don't worry, sounds like you're doing fine!Cool

Hi Drittz

If you taper each plank at the bow by a small amount, say about a fifth of the width then you may get away with no droppers, I didnt use any on my Vic. So, basically lay the first row untapered and then take a little off every row below this.

OK so I got it to work out. Onces I was done the planking I used a wood filler and then sanded till I liked the shape. I am planning on a copper bottom so this worked. As is this is my first wooden ship I think it came out nice. I do wish the company would have made a DVD that we could buy on the build But I guess that would be asking to much. I do belive that's a great idea for someone to make. I know I would buy it.

Something I am noticing is that the closer the planking starts to the bow (frame 16) the bigger the gap and the need for a dropper. This is the rule of thumb I am using and it seems to work, so far.

Pleased I saw this. As I head for the last row of the bottom planking I don't see any sign of the triangle created by the natural lay of the plank.

Hi Drittz, DVD=YouTube

However Model Space's roll out is new for the HMSVictory Channel and it sounds like you are far a head of the publication/air dates.

Here is a chap who has a great channel going for his HMS Vic build.

When you find the time please post some pictures. Would be cool to see.

Thanks for sharing.
