Hi helpers,
Having difficulty fitting transom in place due to curve of deck 58. One thing I would like to do is glue a couple of wood knee brackets under deck 58 to hold it firmly in position. Any problem with this? Should I steam bend the lower part of the transom or can someone give me an idea of how to clamp the two edges to deck 58. Small G-clamps aren't working.

Hi Peter...I did not exactly steam and bend the bottom of mine...I wrapped the part in an old damp face flannel for around 15 muinutes then using an old plastic butter container with the appropriate curve on it and clamped it to the container and left it for a good hour or so to dry to get the aquired curve I wanted.  Hi Peter the rear transom is a bit fiddly to fit the way I did it was to gently stem the transom over a kettle but be careful not to burn your fingers then put a bend to match the curve of the deck I used a glass and some elastic bands to hold it till it dried  . Then I marked the deck and cross members on to the transom glued and pined into place . Hope this helps Rgd Martyn Building ?

If you don't have an electric plank bender the soaking the panel in warm water for around 15 mins will make it flexible enough to fit. PVA will work with damp wood. Hope this helps. Regards Alan
