Hey all,
Well after what seems like forever I finally received pack 19 the other day and completed the H1 build
.
Ran about half a tank with the engine idling (turning down the idle screw as required as the idle speed slowly crept up as the engine got worn in). I went to do some 1/4 throttle passes out in the street and did a few, then suddenly as I had just started accelerating the car just wouldn't stop!
Looked at the transmitter and the LED's had turned off. Had to stop the car with my foot before it hit something more expensive! The only damage was the plastic bull bars on the front. Fixed that with some superglue!
A quick knock on the bottom and it turned on again ?!? Im using Duracell batteries so I know they're made to proper specs and were brand new. Just seems as though the batteries can seemingly work their way loose when inside the unit.
Secondly, I have installed a Schumacher micro failsafe into the car which saved me twice yesterday from weird signals in the area. When testing functionality on the bench the throttle servo would start twitching and then go into failsafe mode. Looks like their is some 27Mhz interference around me :(
Anyway, ive bought one of the KT-200 transmitters from eBay brand new, this is the same radio provided in the RB7 build and is 2.4Ghz with a built in failsafe so should be better then the 'old skool' 27Mhz rubbish!
When the car wasn't acting weird or running wild it was great, turning circle is good and the suspension has tons of travel! Certainly feels less delicate than the RB7, something I could actually use without being terrified it will break! I havnt tuned the engine yet (as I stopped after the runaway) but it does seem a lot slower than the RB7, I suspect its not as its the same engine, I havnt checked the gearing either, we shall see.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar occurrence of either interference of dodgy radio/battery behavior.
