Wow. Your details to the hold is terrific. You make it look easy. Really nice work! Where is a good source for the EL wire? I've never used it but would like to start.

I got my EL wire from elwirepros.com. Prices seem pretty reasonable. I purchased the wire with the lead on it already. But you can cut the wire to length. So I had about 10" left over I cut off after wrapping around my hold hatches. That 10" is now unusable however. But based on results, well worth it.

If you have a soldering iron, you can use that remaining EL wire. https://learn.adafruit.c...re/soldering-to-el-wire

Thanks Dan, I may do that. I do have a soldering iron. Been using it for a lot for the wiring I'm doing for the model.

Would you be willing to share the photos you used for the maintenance pits and the small room off the hold? That looks like a great way to handle those areas.

I'd have no problem at all sharing my photos to place behind the pits and door. I'll post a link later, since they're at home.

Your printed photo references work really well. I want to build the room for the circuit bay, but I'm not sure how much I'll do with the floor bays. If I decide not to have the hold in the ship, then I'll probably do something similar to what you did.

I had thought about building some stuff for the circuit bay myself, but I'm also not sure ultimately how much room there will be inside. As for the floor bay, they'll be flush with the bottom of the model, so no room there, other than maybe a few wires as pipes or something.

So here is the floor hatch and doorway photos I did to print out and put behind the model. It's just links to download. Doing a forum type of post changes the actual size of the image. This way should work. I downloaded myself and tested. Now I print my artwork from photoshop, so I don't know if printing from preview or something will change the size. Just make sure whatever you print from, print actual size. Doorway should be 1.85" tall http://www.mediafire.com...rjaqvfq7r0p/doorway.jpg
floor hatch should be 1.7" square http://www.mediafire.com...gdu3goi2/Floor_Hatch.jpg

Thanks for the photo links -- I've downloaded them and will try printing and test fitting today. (At least for the maintenance pit ... I don't have the hold wall yet where the second one will be used).

I agree as well. Terrific scratch building on the hold features as well. Nicely done.

Thank you If you're referring to the arduino board I mentioned, there's all different kinds on Amazon. At this point, I'm not even really sure which one I'm going to get. I still need to figure all that out, but I've still got a little over a year.

I love the idea of chopping details off the Hasbro Falcon to use for detailing out this one. Very creative and may have to add that to my own build at some point. I've been making my own greeblies out of putty! :)

They make them in large, meduim, small, extra small, and micro and all are prewired and easy to use. They even have self flashing LEDs in all the colors both fast and slow flashing. No need for a board or anything extra and you should be able to run up to 50 of them off the power supply that comes with the kit. Really good prices and easy to use LEDs.
