Hi All,BigGrin

Thanks to Alan and Dave for the above comments. Cool

It`s time for an update and it`s more micro modelling.

This update shows the work required in issue 16 - The flight engineers control panel.

In addition, in one of the pictures you can see the pilots console panels and compass holder, as these were all painted at the same time.

The pilots console comes in issue 17. (Coming soon)

Ok the parts.Pic 1

There are paper templates for the gauges: this is stuck behind the fascia, after you paint the inner edges of the top two rows of gauge holes, yellow and blue respectively.Pic 2

You now have to glue and lay the fascia over the paper template.
(Accuracy is essential or you won`t see the gauge detail).

You will see in the next pic (as it`s in close-up)any blemishes/scratches in the paint. These are tidied up later and cannot be seen to the naked eye. (I hope)Pic 3

A backboard is now fitted to the panel to give it depth.

The edges are painted black to match the panel.

Next you have to fit two fuel transfer switches and four fuel pressure warning lights. (Another eye blurring job)Pic 4

When the above parts are fitted, the fuel warning lights are painted red and every gauge has to have a label painted beneath it. Crying
The labels are just specks of white or red paint.

When dry each gauge is glazed using gloss varnish.

This final picture is taken with a macro lens on my camera and therefore shows this warts and all, but when viewed with your eyes looks a lot better.Pic 5

That`s all for this update, only short but takes up a lot of time due to the fact that this whole console is just bigger than a penny.
Blink Blink Blink Blink Blink

Happy building

LOL LOL LOL

Definitely not the eyes of a hawk.

Good glasses and a magnifier with inbuilt fluorescent tube is the order of the day.

Thanks for commenting. Cool

Coming a long at a right good pace and looking great.

I was surprised just how detailed this kit is.

Hope the rest of the build goes well.

What a great build this is,and you are really showing us how to build a Lancaster, how much smaller can you get?

Well built Derek.

Hi All, BigGrin

Thanks to all above for their nice comments. Cool

In answer to Trev`s question, how small can it get:

Pilot`s compass
Wiring to the back of the pilots gauges
Elsan toilet
Life rafts
Axe
Screwdriver

All in 1:32 scale

That`s just a small selection of what`s to come.

Just hope the near 60 year old eyes can take the strain.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Hi All,BigGrin BigGrin

I`m back on the Lanc for a while, so here`s a catch-up/update.

When I left this build some ?? months ago I had a plan to help locate the cockpit control levers. This involves the use of the pilots console which would surround the levers.

So, I clamped the plate in place and then scored the wooden mounting back plate as indicated by the red line. I then mounted the three lever sections within the limits of the marks.

Following that the engineers panel was mounted in the cockpit area (close-up pic included)

Detailing and fitting of the oxygen tanks into the bunk bed was the next job. (Here comes the eye strain again)LOL

Well that`s all for the moment. Now working on the pilot`s console and it`s reverse side which has some incredible detail.

Not telling, you`ll have to wait for the next update. Flapper
