Strange to see her in her new colours and to be honest, not sure which I like the best. Think I'll sit on the fence for a while on this one and keep my judgement neutral for now.....Cool Cool

I agree with most of the above posts - and especially it's probably the undercoat!

I for one will continue with my build - painting her Black and Yellow Ocre!

Whilst I agree with all the above that the old yellow ochre looks far better, I had a thought today (it happens sometimes!BigGrin ) The original paints applied to Victory would all have been made up from natural elements including red lead and various oils etc, could it be that this new pale colour actually was what she was painted in, but the daily exposure to sun light (UV) and salty atmosphere chemically altered the pale yellow into our favourite deeper yellow ochre?
It might explain the original 'colour' according to the conservationists, as the first layers wouldn't have been 'weathered' unlike the top coats.
Just a thought but like everyone else I'm not doing any re-painting on mine!!Flapper

I'm a bit iffy on this one...Standing on the sidelines so to speak..I've seen the video floating about on Facebook dated 20th October giving a further explanation of the colour scheme, how they discovered the original colur through laboratory tests and with the new paint job on the gun ports and inner lids when suddenly opened to the enemy would have sparked that extra edge of fear into them!! Seeing the vodeo a couple of times, I could see what they were getting at! Will I change the colour scheme on my Vic...No, it's too late!!...But the new scheme seems to be slowly becoming agreeable to many... I was wondering...When Victory was painted with the "supposed" original colours...Was the rest of the fleet equally done the same??

They only 'think' they've got it as close at the can to the original colour.
I doubt this would have taken into account paint fade, or that before Trafalgar the paint scheme was red, and that over time there could have been a slight mix of the colours?

By all accounts the colour Victory wore at Trafalgar was certainly lighter than the near orange she was painted current day.
