As I get more issues and see the areas where the mass production paint work leaves little that is acceptable, I wish that DeAgostini had offered the kit in a "not painted" version.

It has been the consensus that in order to properly replicate the Studio Model, the entire ship will have to be repainted. In order to preserve the fine lines of all the cast-in details, I have been working diligently at removing the factory wash on most every part that has been issued.

Is there a simple stripping method out there that will remove the "wash" paint, but not attack the plastic? The colored sections have very fine coverage, but some of the panel wash is very heavy and if you spray primer directly over it, it hides the very sharp lines at edges of details, that we definitely don't want to loose.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Just as a follow up, it was suggested to use Castrol Super Clean from Walmart. After a 30-45 minute soak, then clean up in soap and water and with a toothbrush, the "panel wash" paint came off and the parts were super clean and ready to prime coat. (after drying over night).

I use Mr muscle foam oven cleaner to remove chrome paint from wheels and it dose no damage to the plastic. Might be worth trying it out
