Hi everyone,

Decided at the weekend to take the plunge and get the Victory model over the next 24 months.

Not sure how long I'll be waiting for the 1st pack but I can't start building yet anyhow until our extension is complete and I have somewhere to build the model!

Am I right to assume I will get 10 issues to "do" every two months?

Looking though the previous posts there seems to be a lot of information available and a lot of kind builders willing to share it so thanks in advance - I'm sure I'll need it.

I last built a wooden ship model (a cargo ship) in the 1980's and I don't remember finishing it so I am really starting from scratch with this project.

I'm looking forward to starting and submitting my first question/call for help!

Happy building everyone.

Welcome aboard Garfield and great to hear you have decided to take the plunge and build this iconic ship. I don't think you will be disappointed with the selection you've made. The instructions that comes with the kit is second to none and that, together with the Official build diary, video build and members builds means you have a wealth of information at hand, plus of course an army of willing members ready to assist if needed, all you have to do is ask. I'd also recommend you start up and maintain a build diary, it is by far the best method for us to spot anything that may look a little untoward before it becomes a bigger problem.... Cool Cool

I believe if you have gone for the 24 month option you will receive a pack every month each containing 5 issues

Enjoy your build, I look forward to following your progress.....Cool Cool ..

Regards

Alan

Welcome to the forum Garfield

I haven't built the victory myself but have seen lots of them on here so there should be plenty of help available.

My mother's partner did build the victory as his first wooden ship build and he done a pretty find job having never built anything before.

Look forward to seeing you start your build Cool

Thanks for the warm welcome! Now even more keen to get started.
Realistically I'm not likely to get started until the New Year by which time I should have had a couple of deliveries of issues.
I will fill in any "free" time until then by looking at the videos and picking up tips from you guys so I can learn from you right from the start.
Regards
Gary

Well, Pack 1 arrived yesterday! All intact as far as I can tell. Very impressed with the quality of the guidebook which makes everything look straightforward.
Sadly I can't do anything with the goodies yet because there is no space until our home extension is completed. I don't even think there's room to build the launch!
The wait will be worth it! Looking forward to starting my build diary.
Regards
Gary

Rumour has it that Santa will be bringing me several books on HMS Victory. About 27 sleeps before I get to read them! Will set up my build diary but won't be able to do much until our builders have finished. I suppose I could start a couple of the smaller parts while I'm waiting....
