 Hi All I have never really been struck by liner kits but this is one kit that caught my eye released with the films by John woo called 'The Crossing ' two films apparently, it relates to 3 couples over time traveling on the ship. First built by the Manitowoc ship yard in the USA and was classed as a great lakes steamer. Used by the US forces in WW2 as a short supply ship she was finally sold as scrap in 1948 to the Taiping Dock Company and then rented to the Shanghai Zhonglian Company who converted her to a passenger steamer to carry 508 passengers sailing between Shanghai and Keelung. She sank in 1949 after a collision with another ship carrying 1500 plus refugee's from Communism after the Chinese Civil War. This was China's version of the titanic with a huge loss of life. The kit comes with a nice outer sleave that slides off to the inner that looks like a book that opens inside you first see the pre painted hull, some sticky back printed decks/roofs and and a real bound instruction book all nestling in a flocked lined inner case. lift off the upper part reveals the various coloured sprues in two compartments that are Mengs usual high quality with minimal if no flash. The hull is also used to carry some components namely the included lighting system and the name plates for the provided stand. All the port holes have clear plastic portholes. I could find no etch for this kit but did find a real wood deck which will replace the ones provided. The kit is designed to be minimal glue and paint hence the different coloured plastic and the pre painting but will look better with some paint on it. All in all a nice kit at 1/150 scale and 21 inches long, more of a stand off scale and not a monster but a good size and may be of use to train layout builders because of its scale. Not often a ship kit also includes lighting and seems a very nicely presented kit, great choice

I'd love to hear your first impression about building this, I was thinking of getting one for my 14 years old daughter as this is a minimal glue kit and prepainted... Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

Hi All Thanks for looking in an your comments, @ Michu the kit should go together quite well with minimum fuss although I would ditch the stick on decks and go for the wood one. The main problem I can foresee is finding a power supply to fit the USB connector on the lights.
