Hi every one! Now that I got a number of enough pieces,I decided to build my own model. I also decided to star with the brake discs. Someone once said that this model wasn't enough detailed and it should be much better because of the 1/8 scale. I think this maybe is true, so I realized that I should add my own touch starting with, as I said before, the brake-discs. Because it's still under construction, as soon as possible, I'll add some pictures of the pieces I'm working on.

First of all, I decided to cut off those fake screws around the brake disc and add some true ones (picture 1 and 2). These ones I bought from rbmodel.com, and they are really nice, very well made! For doing the exchange between the fake screws and the true ones, I first cut them off with a shave blade (picture 3). Then I made a roll with a .3mm drill (picture 4). I also add a 0.38 mm brown wire between two consecutive screws (I don't known what they are made for, but we can clearly see them from the original F1 car - picture 5). The wire I bought from my local hobby shop. For finishing, I mask the dark section of the disc itself, and painted a coat of Tamiya Titanium Silver X-32, which is very similar the original color made by Kyosho. Finally, I used a black color paint for fill the "rolls" around center section (picture 6). File Attachment(s): pompeuribeiro attached the following image(s):

Well, Nemesis, the last picture is indeed the original car that I copy from the web. I attached it just to you guys see how is the real thing and compare with my own. I hope mine model can be as good as the last picture, but still a long way to walk through. I thanks everybody for the welcome.

The wire from one bolt head to another is lock wire. common practice for race cars and aircraft. It keeps the bolts from becoming lose. The bolt heads are drilled for the wire. Uncle Al
That's a nice addition the model.

Thanks, Uncle Al! I really appreciate your comment. I think that the true modeler is the one who really understands what he's trying to miniature. Thanks for the contribution!

Joining the two pieces of the brake-disc gives us a visual effect not much realistic because it makes a ditch between the two pieces. I tried to unmake this disappointing effect by adding putty in the notch. After a very careful sanding I apply some coats of Tamiya Gun Metal X-10 paint.

Continuing with the construction of the brake-discs, I decided to add a 2,0 mm hose which was provided in the Museum Collection sponsor decals. To give a more realistic appearance I also added a MFC joint-hose.

This weekend I spent some time re-working in the brake-cooler. I´ve learned that the MP 4/4 was the first formula one car ever built entirely in carbon fiber parts. So I decided that I should do some re-working in my own MP 4/4 brake-coolers. Some plastic kits come with carbon fiber decals, but in this MP 4/4 it doesn´t happen. I didn´t look for aftermarket ones because I already had one decal sheet that I bought a long time ago. This is one for the Williams FW 24 made from Tamiya. I´ve cut the decal parts separately, one for the front and two for the sides. So I started working on that, beginning with the rear ones. It´s doing great, but I haven´t finished yet. I´ll post some pictures as soon as I´m done.
