Got a new toy! A Paasche Talon airbrush! This is literally my first time touching an airbrush. I played around with it on paper for a while to get a feel for it and then dove straight into an old trashed Falcon model that's been laying around for years. I pre-shaded with Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black and then sprayed a few light coats of Insignia White over top. It's going to take some practice. In many places I find the white is either so thick it covers the pre-shading or so thin it looks speckled. Either way, it's great practice and a whole lot of fun!BigGrin

Not bad BigGrin

I prefer to use the airbrush to do the final coat rather than rattle cans as you have much more control.

I would also recommend using a grey rather than black for the pre shading as black can sometimes be a bit too stark.

Another alternative method if you use the rattle cans would be to post shade. Cool

Thanks Dave. I'm going to play around on the bottom side with a lighter pre-shade, as well as a custom mix for the base coat through the airbrush.

Well, I haven't really posted anything in a while. I guess that's because I haven't done that much on the model. I am waiting to paint it until I have at least the entire bottom section finished, so every month it's just screwing together some framing and put the hull plating in a box. Pretty boring.

To pass the time, the other day I placed the hull plating on without screwing it just to see how it would look. It looks exactly like I thought it would.Laugh

I did just receive my Bandai order to keep me entertained in the meantime. I will post pics in the Sci-Fi and Space forum as I go. Got a start on one of the snowspeeders already. They are similar in scale to the DeAg Falcon, so Hoth hanger diorama comes to mind.BigGrin

Keep up the good work everyone.

I would love to get some of those Bandai kits. I've been watching people getting and reviewing and building them and they are pretty amazing!

Do yourself a favour and get the Bandai 1/48 X-wing. It is my favourite of the Bandai kits. Second was 1/12 Boba Fett, the R2 and R5. I have just purchased the 1/144 Falcon, and although it is well detailed, it is a shame it wasn't 1/72 - a little small for my liking.

I'm been seriously thinking about doing so... I wanna get the AT-ST, the R2/R4 and the Big X-Wing... but am also waiting for the big Star Destroyer which I've heard rumor will be 3' long!

Lrd, these Bandai sets are great. I finished one of the snowspeeders last night, just have to paint it now. Lots of detail.

I just saw online that Bandai is coming out with a 1/48 AT-AT either end of this year or early next year. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Oh yeah baby... can't wait to see what they are able to come up with next! Just wish they are more easily obtained since the Revell/Bandai thing!

I see that you used the shapeways couch. How difficult was it to remove the original and integrate the replacement. I've on the fence about the hold: either spend a small fortune on upgrades or leave as is, lol.

Your hold is looking awesome, btw.
