after spending the weekend planking the first six rows it was looking good until i had finished it, i then realised that i had made the classic mistake.i did not give enough attention to the sanding of the hull ,it looked awful ,i then made the decision to strip it all down and start again.i got more planking from my local model shop after reading the magazine properly i spent a lot of time sanding down i have just finished re planking and it now looks much better.i am now wondering about the next lot of planking.as i dont want to paint it,i thought we were getting different coloured planking as shown in photographs to give a natural wood finish and would be grateful for any advice as this is my first real build.

Hi 44JIM, We are getting supplied with darker wood for the lower part of the hull(if you are not doing the copper plate). Also the wales will be in a darker wood. This will provide the contrasting stripe effect on a natural finish. I am not sure I'm explaining this well, maybe one of the other guys can. Jimmy L.
current builds : Lancaster 1/32 (Hachette) Revell USS Kearsarge Titanic Lifeboat
I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

If I can find a decent coppering material, I will do it, as I am also painting. It is quite difficult to find some stuff here, hooray for e-bay Part time modeller, full time biker
