I am just about at the end of building the MP4/4 and I have to say my overall impression of the model is one of disappointment.
It's just my opinion obviously but I much prefer the McLaren MP4/23 .
There were some faults with the parts not fitting very well on the MP4/23 but I think this build has caused other problems by over complicating the model by cramming too much in.
Diagostini obviously want to make as much money as possible from the subscriptions hence the 20 issues but considering most people will be displaying this model with the bodywork fitted in my opinion, and it's only my opinion, there is too much detail.
I do think better solutions could have been found for various parts of the build including the exhaust and the engine and gearbox parts and also that horrible sticky tape.
Too many parts have to be glued and over the length of the build the glue bond weakens which causes problems when you start the final assembly and the amount of cabling etc to fit makes the whole final assembly stressful to say the least.
Obviously my model building skills are not on a par with some of the build diaries on the forum and the fact that my eyes are not as good as they used to be,yes I am getting old
,has made this a harder build for me than some of you on here but I still feel disappointed in the model.
I like things to be perfect and luckily the few faults I have on the model will all be hidden under the bodywork but it's still frustrating knowing that the model is not as good as I want it to be and while some of that is my fault I do feel that the model has been made more difficult to build than it should have been.
I will post some photos once it's completely finished , good luck to you all with the final assembly.
