So I got myself a little something for Xmas. It's the HMS Hood.

So, yes, with only 5 years delay Hachette is finally publishing the HMS Hood partwork in Germany.

Now this one I want to do extra good. Does anyone know if there were any "super detail sets" released for this kit like there were for the Titanic and U96? Googling just gets me sets for the Trumpeter kit.

I've had a try at finding something but much like you am struggling

I'm thinking that the kit for the Trumpy Hood would be the only option. Will have another look on my night shift tonight

BigGrin Hi Greyhawk

I doubt you will find much in the aftermarket for this kit but what I can say is the etch parts provided are top notch although some are very small and fiddly blighters. The only thing that lets the kit down are the castings which sometimes resemble nothing more than blobs of metal so you may want to recast a few in resin by using the best shaped part as a mould or even make them with a 3D Printer.

The wood parts are very good although matching up the plastic stern and bow can be a challenge also if you doing the static version I would recommend using the centre section as a template for the front and rear decks where they meet to get a nice matching cut.

The plastic parts are mostly well cast but a few will have to be filed due to injection moulding not quite filling the parts out. Dont let this put you off its a nice kit to build and makes a fine ship.

Good luck with her
