Hi All Just a couple of pics on the progress of the planking. More soon Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Looking great Andy and no doubt a time consuming process due to the size of the deck to be covered.... Onwards and upwards eh..... Regards Alan

Hi Alan The bow is the part that makes the planking a challenge as it has a double taper to the bow that is different for both sides, the left side where the bridge is situated is a longer taper the right side has less. Once past the bow taper its a straight planking job until the last three inches or so to the stern taper that kicks in. I have to agree the planking transforms the model and starts bringing it to life. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Greyhawk Yep, lots of planks I preffere this way to the printed card deck provided [you can see the card decks in the pictures] as I think it looks better. It will take more work prepping it for the decals but still worth it I think. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Definitely worth it to take the time to make it as good for oneself as one can.

No offence taken, remember I just did the same with the Agamemnon hull although the Caldercraft copper plate have the rivets already imprinted although they maybe a little overscale but still worth the effort on the finished model Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy! I have believed that you try planking the wood deck. I hope your Akagi will become more realistic after your planking. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Yutaro Thanks for looking in and your comments as you can see from the next pictures the deck is now done. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All The deck is now fully planked and the lifts roughly cut out, next it will be some sanding and sealing to get a smooth surface ready for the decals and deck furniture to be added. I think doing a real wood deck has transformed to model and has made all the difference, well thats my opinion anyways . That must have been some effort planking that deck, it's certainly paid though as it looks absolutely stunning. Well worth the effort!

Very nice Andy and I agree, I think going down the route of a real wooden deck was definitely the right way to go and it'll look fab when sanded and varnished, much better than a printed version, and certainly worth the extra effort?! I was thinking that rather than use the decals for the white lines, it may be better and likely easier to mask and spray them on do you think, as unless you get the surface of the wooden deck nice and smooth and glossy, you'll likely get some silvering around the edge of the decals if it's even slightly coarse textured - just a thought?
Looks superb mate - well done!!

Hi Andy. Your doing an awesome job. I also agree the deck looks betterbi real wood. I would have though it would have it in the kit. Chris. On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.
