I have an opportunity to get some used vellejo paints but I guess they are like 3-4 years old. I don't have alot of experience with paints. Would you buy something like that or should I just walk away. Is there a way to check them or test them?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Its difficult to cat jusgement over all of them unless you have them in your hand. Any that have been opened may have gone dry or very thick, sealed bottles should be okay though I've known these to go dry over years stood idle, especially where there is a large volume of air in the bottle. Possibly ask the question of the seller to clarify that all are in fact usable.

Even if they're not dry, the paint will likely have seperated into pigments & solvent. If so, mix it up real good (I'm talking vigorously for several minutes, not just a whirl) with a metal rod. I use the Tamiya mixing rod myself. Don't use wooden toothpicks or you'll end up with lots and lots of tiny wood fibers in your paint and at that point it's useless.
