Thanks for looking in and the nice comments Andy and Alan I have been planking away like a mad man and have now finished one side As you can see I have used a Natural Oak oil on the light wood but I am not sure on the colour but I am very pleased with the way the dark wood has turned out So now it's on to the other side Rgd Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ? Hi martyn, excellent progress on the planking you've really got it down to a fine art, and for what it's worth it think the light wood looks rather good. Thanks for the feedback guys and for looking in I was a little worried that it was to much in your face but looking at it by the time I get the gunports and rubbing strakes it should break up the side of the hull quite nicely Thank you again and I am off to do some more planking Rgd Martyn Building ? Thanks Alan Andy and Kev for the bril comments A bit more done on the S.F I have fitted the stern decks and put on the first planks . As you can see the first plank is pinned so it stays 90deg to the deck so I can butt the other planks up to it . The deck is a bit fiddly as it has two curves .I found that by twisting the plank a small bit they fitted better After the glue had dryed it was trimed and sanded Next job laying the second planking . I just followed the first planking to get to line up and as with the first planking it was sanded down. Next is fitting the Beak and Keel . I filled the slot to get a nice close fit checking as I went with the beak When done it was glued into place along with the rest of the keel peaces . When dry a cover strip was glued over the edge to cover the ply I used masking tape to hold it while it dryed and then trimed it back Thanks for looking rgd Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ?
