Hi all we due to the kind generosity of CPNGROATS (a member on another forum who was so impressed by my model ships he gifted this to me from his own stash)I have received this   today. Thank you very, very much George, very kind indeed. I hastily opened it tonight eader to start but my missus says NO!!! "you have enough models on the go, cluttering up my house. you finish some of them off and get them out the way". to be fair I do have 9 on the go and bits are all over the place, she's generally ok so I cant complain ( but I have found in the past a bit of sweet talking can bring her round ) so watch this space, in the very near future. Ken's the name modeling's the game.

thats a really nice kit Ken. I built Revells USS constitution and it was a really great kit.

Looking great Ken! Love the pastel technique on the decks! Is Thermopylae a sister ship to the Cutty or is she significantly different in her deck arrangement? I know they used to race each other on the Australia run but I never knew if they were identical! They were built by different ship yards and she was built specifically to beat the cutty sark (tea was a rich commodity and whoever got to harbour first got the best price) (she never beat the cutty sark) so no they weren't sister ships and weren't identical (I have read that this kit is a modified and reboxed kit of revealed,ls cutty sark so probably that's why they look so similar) I don't know enough about the two ships to correct her, or the skills if I did. Lovely work Ken, is the copper fairly durable or will it scratch off ? I would certainly consider this for my next plastic kit😊

Hi all given the green a coat of paint and weathered that and done a bit more to the copper    the copper is very thin but given a coat of varnish it is very durable (I actually deliberately tried scratching it with my finger nail and even scratching quite hard it was ok) (ps that is polyurethane varnish not sure how others would work) the wash is my favorite free wash of my dirty white spirit bottle sludge and a bit of mig green brown camo wash, I've added today some green pastels and more of my favorite free sludge (that's after a coat of varnish to protect the previous layer) then a coat of varnish over this as I think I've finished with the copper now. Ken's the name modeling's the game.
