I have been watching the use of Danish oil on the decks of various builds with great effect and am considering using it myself but I'm concerned about the fact that it is an oil which could affect the adhesion of future deck fittings. Could this be a problem?Pam's shipyard is closed for now no more room!

hi mac..it will be fine as long as you wipe off the oil after you have applied it so the only oil that is left has soaked into the wood and no surplus is left on top of the planks...paul cheers benny

Hi Mac, I used Antique oil on my deck of the HMS Surprise which once dry it hardens. I have glued things to it with no problems.(24hrs)(I glued the detail bits on the Victory open section on my build log onto antique oiled deck. I tried to pull them off no go,, when i did it pulled the plank up..lol)
Hope that helps..Chris.. On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Has anyone used the Walnut Stain from Cornwall Model Boats for their planking? Thinking of trying it in the middle as a tester...

I use it and its good. You can build up the coats to get different shades. If you look at my first Black Pearl build I have used it on the ships wheel.

Lakes74 Should look good. I have tried it on spare planks and then gone over it with a coat of the matt varnish to seal it and it looks really nice!!
